EASA grants ETSO for Lufthansa Technik »chair«

Lufthansa Technik's innovative VIP seating solution »chair« has received its ETSO (European Technical Standard Order) certification. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) granted two ETSO's for the 9g certified and 16g certified »chair« family. This ETSO designation can also be used for FAA TSO certification. With this approval production of »chair« can start.

Induction cooking is fast, clean, safe and efficient. It is also difficult in an aircraft. After conducting preliminary studies together with the company hs2 engineering GmbH in Ulm, Lufthansa Technik has now developed and filed a patent application for a prototype of an induction cooking platform.

Experience your flight live on your tablet: niceview goes mobile

Making its premiere at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Lufthansa Technik will introduce an interactive system that lets passengers track their own flight live on their tablet or smartphone. The 3D moving map uses real satellite imagery which allows passengers to select from a variety of customizable perspectives including information on altitude, speed, travel time, etc.

Up in the air: An inside look at an innovative new aircraft lighting system

Scandinavian Airlines’ (SAS) completely retrofit A330 left on its premiere transatlantic flight last month (February 17th, 2015), travelling from Copenhagen, Denmark to Newark, N.J., USA. The plane, named Erik Viking, is the first of seven siblings in the airline’s A330/340 family to be fit with the new SAS cabin.
